Accessibility

The Altzella Monastery Park is largely accessible for people with disabilities – except in extremely bad weather. Unfortunately, the Mausoleum, the wine cellar, the meadows on the former granary buildings and the herbal garden are not at all, or only to a limited extent, accessible for people with disabilities.

The last preserved buildings of the former monastery are historical monuments of more than 800 years of history. Converting the buildings to meet the requirements of people with disabilities is not feasible due to the architectural prerequisites and limiting requirements imposed by the monumental preservation authority. The video on the architectural history of the upper floor of the Scriptorium and the library in the Converses’ House can be seen only after negotiating some stairs.

The museum shop and monastery café are freely accessible for all. There is als a restroom for people with disabilities. The carpark is within the monastery walls immediately next to the entrance.
